Here are a few short examples of some of the more important points of my teaching philosophy.

A classroom needs to be:

  • Transparent and unbiased, and if an opinion is given then it is clear that is the teachers own opinion and not necessarily the truth. For example when talking about the big bang the theory of creationism will not be left out.
  • Inclusive and equitable of all backgrounds, whether it be through lesson design, content choice, or behavior in the classroom. For example, normalization of different genders through introducing myself with my preferred pronouns or choosing more worldly examples of content over the classic euro-centric examples.
  • A place where UDL is exercised and integrated at all times to support all levels of understanding, backgrounds, and learning styles that students may have.
  • A place where student-teacher relationships are of utmost importance so I can support students as best as I can and a comfortable and healthy environment can grow.

Attached is an essay I wrote that takes a much deeper dive into my personal philosophy of education if you wished to know more in depth details.
